Family Death Pool 2014Joan Rivers, age 81 (1933-2014) has Sarah West heading to the finish line as the 2014 Family Death Pool winner. 2014 was a carry-over year (so nobody we picked in 2013 kicked it) so the pot was double. Unless a selected celeb dies between now and noon on Thanksgiving day, Sarah will walk away with the purse joining the list of those that have proudly held the title of Family Death Pool winner:
2009-Zib picked Michael Jackson
2010-Gillian selected Amy Winehouse beating Aaron V with his Elizabeth Taylor selection
2011-Zib (again) crossing the finish line with Steve Jobs
2012-We were shut out!
2013-Sarah West is looking like our winner with Joan Rivers
Now, on to 2015 picks.
Abraham Lincoln issued a proclamation setting aside the last Thursday of November as a national day of thanks and as I studied history history under the the acclaimed and respected Harold Dalain at the prestigious Cambridge High, I also learned that Abe was a huge fan of conducting Family Death pools on Thanksgiving. Actually, that was his first idea for the last Thursday of November but he couldn't get his blog updated so he went with just giving thanks.
Get your picks and $$ ready! If you cannot attend Thanksgiving at Monica and Robby's be sure to either send your picks with a friend or call it in before noon! We're sticklers about the "dead"line since the remembrance ceremony must start on time!
Rules
The rules are simple and here they are:
a) the person must be a celebrity "now" and not become a celebrity because of their death
b) the person cannot be a death row inmate
c) you cannot kill anyone on your list
d) the celebrity cannot be dead before you post your picks
e) the celebrity must be human (no animals)
f) cannot already be diagnosed with a terminal illness
g) points are awarded by subtracting the age of the dead celebrity from 100 (50 year old gets you 50 points, 80 year old gets you 20 points, etc.)
