All I know is that I'm trying extra hard to stay on Zib's good side after his amazing, unforgettable, Michael Jackson pick of 2009. The pop icons death at age 50 launched him into first place with 50 points. Until June 25th, it looked like Joe and his Bea Arthur pick would prevail with 14 points. Robby Z, with his John Travolta pick, was at least in the right family with the death of John's son, Jett.
It was a race right until the end of the pool this year; celebrity deaths seemed to really pick up speed with notable deaths coming one right after the other!
Misc. Death Reflections from 2009
The Kennedy's are always a good pick but low point earners, this year Eunice Kennedy Shriver and Senator Edward Kennedy could have at least put you in contention.
Farrah Fawcett, wow, did she pick a horrible time to die. Overshadowed by Michael Jackson, she really didn't stand a chance. Since she had a terminal illness, you may have been disqualified for this pick anyway.
Lucky for Don Hewitt and Walter Cronkite they waited until the spotlight had dimmed. These guys were too old to give you any real accumulation of points.
A few other folks that would have been good picks and also waited to kick it until after Michael Jackson had moved out of the headlines included, pitchman Billy Mays, Karl Malden, and Soupy Sales. Soupy had NO CHANCE if anyone remotely popular would have died in the same week as him. His timing was all but perfect.
