Bob Barker dead? If this is not a hoax Sarah West is taking an early lead in the Death Pool.

2018 Death Pool picks are paid and sealed. With Travis and Katie taking their first year at the helm residing over the proceedings and clarifying some rules, there was spirited debate around Aids as a terminal illness and death row inmates in the State of California (thank you Charlie Manson).  Updated rules for 2018 are below.  Entry fees increased to $5 and we had 37 total players.  The pot is a whopping $185.

The rules are simple and here they are:

1. The person must be a celebrity "now" and not become a celebrity because of their death
2. The celebrity cannot be a death row inmate, even in states that don't execute death row inmates (e.g., California)
3. The you cannot kill anyone on your list
4. The celebrity cannot be dead before you post your picks
5. The celebrity must be human (no animals)
6. The celebrity cannot already be diagnosed with a terminal illness.  Clarification in 2018:  Aids will be recgonized as a terminal illness. You cannot pick someone diagnosed with Aids. If you already have a pick with Aids, they're grandfathered in.  You can keep them. 
7. Points are awarded by subtracting the age of the dead celebrity from 100 (50 year old gets you 50 points, 80 year old gets you 20 points, etc.)
8. All selections and entry fees must be submitted by noon on Thanksgiving Day
9. NEW in 2018:  In the event of a roll-over and you don't have a bet for the previous year entry fee will include current and previous year and you only get 1 pick.
10. NEW in 2018:  You must be able to verbalize your pick. So you cannot make a bet for an unborn baby or someone in a coma.
11. NEW in 2018:  You must be paid up to win.
12. NEW in 2018:  Current owners of the pick have 'right of first refusal' to keep that pick, even if someone dies

Thanksgiving Prayer - Get Your Picks Ready

Lindsay Lohan has been in the pool previously and the trouble-prone party girl will be up for grabs again this year. 

Unless a celebrity in our pool dies between now and noon on Thanksgiving day, Grace Leto will have $187 for her Black Friday shopping fund! Mary Tyler Moore. MTM died at age 80, giving Grace a score of 20. Ticketty tock...it's party O'clock!

Every year there's a chance the celebrity you pick will join the celebrity cast in the clouds.
Start your research and get your celebrity pick ready for next year by noon on Thanksgiving day.  Newly appointed chairpersons; Travis and Katie have raised the entry fee from $2 to $5 (insert democratic political commentary here).  Entry fees must be paid at the time you submit your selection.  Watch for other rule and policy changes to be announced prior to the annual Remembrance Ceremony performed by The Go Girls (also known as The Go, Go Grannies).

We feel like we're doing a pulic service by giving people a way to deal with the unavoidable and natural end of a celebrity so you need not be present to submit your picks.  You're welcome.
You do need to get your celebrity name and $5 entry fee to someone that will be in attendance.  It's good to have a back-up pick in case someone else already has your celebrity.

As for me, I think I'm sticking with last years pick (right of first refusal) MaCauly Culkin.  Although research indicates he's had "the greatest celebrity make-over in 2017" earning him the nickname of Super Hunky McCauly Culkin, I think he's still a hot mess underneath.

After years of no picks we are breaking it out in 2017.  Grace Leto shows her prognostication talents at a young age by her Mary Tyler Moore pick!  MTM dead at age 80, gives Grace a 20 point lead and a run at the $158 carry over purse. (Total if you contributed in both 2016 and 2017-$158. 2017 only-$68.  2016 only-$90)

Note:  Since this is a carry over year from 216 the meeting notes indicate the following agreement.  You can only win for each year you've contributed to the pool. Example, new team members this year will win only the 2017 portion of the purse and not money from 2016.
