Floating Atop the Death Pool in 2011

Unless someone kicks it between now and noon today here are the standings for 2011. A little background on the points this year...since we didn't have a winner in 2010 members, picks and the purse were carried over to 2011. Wow, we really made up for it this year we had 5 correct picks, which is the most we've got right..EVER! Gillian, I hate to tell you this but Marge is trying to impose a new rule that you have to be present to win. Something about putting up with our family on holidays? Anyway, she'll get out voted by the Death Pool Governing Council (Chad and Laura) who will also be charged with a complete evaluation and ruling about carry over rule #3 The official determination will be made DPGC about the distribution of pool dollars.

Don't forget to bring your picks for 2012 everyone! I think I've got it nailed next year, I'll have 'no reservations' about going with...Anthony Bourdain, age 55.

MARGE... The rules are simple:
a) the person must be a celebrity "now" and not become a celebrity because of their death
b) the person cannot be a death row inmate
c) you cannot kill anyone on your list
d) the celebrity cannot be dead before you post your picks
e) the celebrity must be human (no animals)
f) cannot already be diagnosed with a terminal illness
g) points are awarded by subtracting the age of the dead celebrity from 100 (50 year old gets you 50 points, 80 year old gets you 20 points, etc.)

NO, NO, is Yes, Yes for Gillian

Amy Winehouse saying no, no to rehab was a big Y-E-S for Gillian who picked the troubled singer in 2010. As Death Poolers will remember, we had no winner in 2010. All cash and picks were deemed by the official Death Pool Governing Council (DPGC) to carry-over to 2011. Assuming the celebrities death at age 27 wins the pool this year, Gillian will earn only half the proceeds. According to a DPGC ruling, death poolers were required to select (any pay for) both a 2010 and 2011 pick. Official papers show that Ms. Franceschi-DeGroot did not select a celebrity for 2011 and is therefore only eligible for half the pool.

Sources indicate that the DPGC will reconvene to determine how to proceed with celebrity deaths from 2011 and the remaining pool money. A clarification of Carry-Over Ruling #3 could impact Aaron's interest in collecting earnings this year; putting him in second place for 2010 and leaving him out of the 2011 standings altogether.
